Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ: FAQ

WHAT CAN THESE ACCENT CLASSES DO FOR ME?

If you attend recommended sessions and practice diligently, you can expect at least a 50% reduction in your accent upon completion of your training program.  Your length of training is determined by the number of accented sounds that are involved and your personal goals.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO REDUCE MY ACCENT?

With proper practice, you should see improvement immediately!
Most basic courses start at 7 weeks and can extend to about 13 weeks, depending on the primary need. Additional sessions are available by request for more intense focus on specific areas, once the initial recommended program is completed. Accent Management is a purely individualized goal, determined by the client’s requirements, level of skill, and long term goals.

WHAT IS MY FINANCIAL COMMITMENT?

Every client has unique needs and goals. All sessions are arranged either hourly or as a complete program package. There are no hidden costs. All financial commitments are addressed ahead of any scheduled session.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR ACCENT MANAGEMENT?

An ideal candidate will have the motivation to improve, the commitment to actively practice during and between sessions, and the determination to improve speaking skills.
If you are ever hesitant to speak, or if you avoid speaking in certain types of forums such as presentations, conference calls, meetings, and social settings, chances are your accent is inhibiting your communication. If this is true for you, then you are a good candidate for Accent Management!

WILL MY ACCENT BE ERASED COMPLETELY? I DON’T WANT TO LOSE MY IDENTITY.

The goal of Accent Management is to enhance communication efficacy during professional and social interactions. Most of my clients are not interested in getting rid of their accent completely, but instead want to target those areas where their accent is holding them back. Each program is geared with the tools necessary to reach one’s individual goals.

MY JOB REQUIRES FLEXIBILITY DUE TO TRAVEL AND A SCHEDULE THAT CHANGES FREQUENTLY. CAN THIS BE ACCOMMODATED?

Absolutely! It is very common for clients to have unexpected schedule changes. Ideally, sessions should be held weekly, but with appropriate notice, classes can be switched to suit your schedule. In addition, when necessary sessions can be conducted using Skype or FaceTime.
